Suzhou Shishan Grand Theatre is set to open on August 31. The performance season will open simultaneously.
With a total construction area of more than 40,000 sq. m, the theatre boasts a grand theater and a multifunctional hall. The grand theater, equipped with over 1,300 seats, will play host to various performances including symphonies, operas, musicals, dramas, and plays. The multifunctional hall will satisfy assorted performance needs with adjustable seats in various scenarios.
Performances will be staged from September. As highlights of the season, Andrew Lloyd Webber's classic musicals The Phantom of the Opera and Cats will grace the stage and bring awe-inspiring experience of Western musicals to audiences in the city. Additionally, Only Blue and Green (Zhi Ci Qing Lyu), a dance drama imbued with oriental aesthetics, will portray the beauty of China with hues of traditional Chinese paintings. The dance and historical drama The Eternal Wave pays homage to revolutionary martyrs who sacrificed their blood and lives for the nation.
